This new Spiritual Jazz edition contains only tracks from privately pressed jazz records released in the U.S. between 1964 and 1987. The reasons for making self-released records are as varied as the stories behind them, and none are the same. It takes imagination, enthusiasm, dedication, hard work and more than a little luck to get it right, even for professionals. Perhaps that's why so many private pressings remain so obscure and elusive to this day.
